I am hoping this will run as a community announcement on the Religion Page of the Muscatine Journal. This class is open to the public and, of course, to the friends and families of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Pastor Pautz
Our Savior Lutheran Church in Muscatine is offering a Christian Wisdom Class beginning Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Why? Because you have hard questions such as: If God is good, why is there so much evil in the world? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why can’t Christians and Muslims get along? How can we know God’s will for our lives? Hard questions beg for hard answers. They couldn’t be otherwise, of course – not to questions like those above. But we can discover something of the answers. How? By applying ourselves to the study of ancient and modern wisdom. That’s what this free Christian Wisdom Class at Our Savior Lutheran Church aims to help us do.
Come join us! The class promises to be not only serious and intellectually challenging, but also inspiring and uplifting. You’ll be encouraged to ask questions of your own, too – in a friendly, non-threatening environment. Don’t worry. You won’t be required to join the church or attend services. What you do with the insights you gain from this class is entirely up to you. The church will give you a free copies of Luther’s Small Catechism with Explanations and The Spirituality of the Cross by Gene Edward Veith. Length - 10 weeks. Cost - Free of charge as a service to the community. Keep the books. To register, call the church office at 563-263-0347. Rev. Jeffrey W. Pautz is both the Pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church and the teacher of this class.
